Walk and Flowers

Yesterday morning I took Emmy to the park, and along the way, I noticed so many beautiful plants in bloom, and some just starting.  It's still cool some mornings (it was +8 this morning) so I'm always a little surprised to see all these blooms, and bees too!
Crabapples and Camellias

Bluebells

Wisteria, the first blooms I've seen

The first rose buds I've seen this spring.

Of course Emmy has to get in to see what I'm looking at.

New additions to Cortez's friend's garden.

more bluebells

An amazingly beautiful azalea.

These smell a bit like honey.

Beautiful yellow magnolia at a park near our apartment.

Vancouver Lake Regional Park

Samantha, Emmy and I thought we'd visit Vancouver Lake Regional Park today. Located in Vancouver, Washington and is a short 30 minute drive from Portland.

23rd Avenue Shop Windows

Whenever we walk down 23rd Avenue at night, the shop windows always look so intriguing.  They are usually decorated for the latest upcoming holiday.
Nearby flower shop that always has a beautiful display of fresh cut flowers outside.

Emmy always stops and wants to go into the Hip Hound when it's closed.  So sad.

Dress shop that seems to have a new display daily.

Old-style hat shop with an excellent selection.

Clothing shop that also has a Bed & Breakfast upstairs.

Sunny Portland Sunday

Today was a beautiful day, at least +20 C, bright and sunny.  A perfect day for a walk downtown.  We started out in the Pearl District and walked our way down through Chinatown to the Old Town and then back home through the Downtown.  Of course Emmy was with us all afternoon.

Shane and Emmy standing on one of many boardwalks (instead of sidewalks) along the old buildings in the Pearl.

Happy Dog in the sun.

Looks like a fun spot.

Emmy wishing that John's Cafe was open so she could get the steak breakfast (only $4.95!).

Not really sure what "The House of Louie" is, but Louis has a Mercedes...

Old Town Pizza, in a building that used to be a hotel, and is supposed to be haunted!

We finally made it to HooDoo Antiques!  I went in and asked the guy who was working there if he was the owner, and he said he was, so I told him who I was...he thought that was pretty funny.  It's a great shop, lots of interesting goodies.

Shane and Emmy in front of a cozy cafe patio.

Great old theatre, sadly no longer in use.

A very cute Cake Shop in a small stand-alone building, with sweet white cotton eyelet curtains and vintage decor.  It's not far from our apartment, but today was the first time I've seen it.  Unfortunately, they were closed.  Maybe we can come back when you visit, Carolyn?  :o)

And here are some more photos, these ones taken by Shane...

The Portland Brew cycle:  Participants take a tour of all the local breweries, peddling from one to the next & of course enjoying Beer!

Old Town Pizza!

Yikes!
